MSN Search Engine Optimization

MSN Search is the third largest search engine, and the newest of the top three. Their algorithms are not as developed, and may be easier to fool. New pages rank much earlier than in Yahoo! and Google, as there is no reported “Sandbox” effect.

Do the regular tricks when trying to rank in MSN, but you don’t need to care so much about PR, since they don’t care either. Lots of links to you site may help, even if from low PR sites. Also, a great number of internal links may rank a page quite high.

Also meta tags, especially the “Description”-tag may still help you with MSN. Also subdomains often rank higher than in Google or Yahoo. It could be because some of the ranking leaks to the subdomain in MSN, or because the other two just emphasize top level domain names.

MSN SEO isn’t very different, but it might be the search engine to first care about, if you are after short term organic traffic. Getting a new site to rank is much easier than with the other two major SEs. Submit your website through Ms Small Business Center, and start finding links to your site from anywhere.

i never even heard of msn seo, i’ll have to give that a try
