Decided to get a custom domain after all. I was weighing the options of a Blogger hosted custom domain blog, and a self hosted Wordpress blog, but decided to go with Blogger for now.
I bought the domain from NameCheap, because of a good offer. Had to go with .info, because .com was already taken. I’ll post a guide on getting a custom domain in a few days.
The blog is currently on the blog subdomain, but a set a redirect from both the www-subdomain and the plain hostname. I’m thinking about setting something different on the main domain later.

Hosting with blogger is alright, but still having a custom domain is worth it especially if you change your mind later. By then might be too late and someone else could have scooped up the domain if they noticed you were starting to get big. I set something like this up for my little bro, he used a blogger account and I bought him the same domain and used frames to open up his blogger address inside there.

Are you going to change the name through the blogger interface, as well?
You better move on to wordpress
Missy,
I have done that already. The old address now redirects to the new one.
Chee Kui,
I might, but I don’t have a good hosting package at the moment, and I enjoy the ease of Blogger.
I wish blogger would just offer a package. It wouldn’t be that difficult for them, it doesn’t seem. And very profitable. Would also make them instant competitors with Wordpress.
I like the domain name but I’m starting to hate blogger’s interface. You should give wordpress a shot, I’m sure you’d enjoy it.
Good idea. I had a free blog die on me before, and lost everything. I like having more control over at my own domain…
[…] Ok, so it’s not exactly October yet, but it will be tomorrow. This is a new viral link list, that I’m hoping will catch wind. The last one gave me a couple of hundred backlinks, and I don’t see why this one couldn’t do the same. (Too bad for me all the old links pointed to my old domain.) […]
very catchy name! hope you bring in lots of $$$$$
