The first thing to take care of with a web site that you want to see on search engine results is the page title. It influences how the listing will look like, when a search returns you site, so you’ll need to focus on the reader. On SERPs the title tag is used as the link, which takes the reader to your site. This should be foremost on your mind when you write the title.

It should be informative enough that the reader will know that your site matches what he’s looking for, but must also be interesting and encourage clicks. You should keep it under 60 characters, as most search engines will not display more from the title.

Main keywords that the page targets should also be in its title, as search engines use it to define relevancy. It is preferable to include the main keyword at the beginning of the title, but if you cannot do that while keeping it readable, forget it

As the page is likely to target more than just one keyword, you may be tempted to include all of them in the title. If you can manage it while keeping the title natural and interesting, do so by all means. Just don’t overdo it, and stuff it with sixty characters worth keywords. That will make it look like spam for both the search engine and the potential reader.

Just remember always to target readers before search engines and you’ll do fine.
