At first I’d like to apologize for not writing in a few days. The reason is not that this blog is for sale. That has been very common lately though. In fact, the reason was me being ill for much of last week and the weekend. I haven’t been able to take the time this week before now, because of some studies that got in the way.

Anyway, I promise not to let it slow me further, and I’m back to the regular post a day for now. So, today I thought I’d share my ideas of blog sales and some related issues. A lot of blog sales have happened during the past few weeks, and I believe some are yet to happen soon enough (the next few weeks, most likely).

For Sale?

Blog Sales

The one blog I read that got sold has Bryan Clark’s OneMan’sGoal - that four month old personal blog sold for $8,500. Even given the great stats he had to show (like over $900 revenue over the past month), that’s a great price for a blog. Bryan is going to continue his 365 day journey at Bryan’s Journey.

Unlike his earlier domain name, the new one is directly connected to his person. Assuming it’s a conscious decision (which I believe), this means he is not aiming to repeat the same with a new blog flip after the next Google PageRank update. That could be a ludicrous business though. Other recently sold blogs include Ryan Shamus dot Com which sold for $2,500 and Blogging Fingers, which sold for $6,000.

So, what’s up with all the blog flipping? The recent PageRank update is the driving force behind this, I believe. With new blogs finally getting a valued (by some) number and with it a price tag, the blog sales market has definitely accelerated. This is a great time to sell a blog then, I guess.

I’m Not Selling Mine

Don’t worry, I’m not interested in selling mine at the moment. The title is a bit misleading though, since while the blog is not for sale, I would sell it if I got the right offer. The problem is that as I haven’t monetized it effectively yet, the value for me is much higher than the value would be for anyone else.

Call it sentimental value, or whatever, but I don’t see myself getting an offer I could accept any time soon.

Thanks for the comment Austin, and I hope you’ll take good care of the blog. I’ve been a subscriber for months, and haven’t removed the subscription yet at least. As for goals, I think quite many of us may share a goal :)

I totally support your decision for not selling your blog, even if you made it in the first place for the purpose of making money off it!
I love my blog & I’d never sell it.

Thanks. Yeah, one somehow does grow fond to something one has work countless hours on. Just remember never to say “never” :)
