I gotta disagree with the link exchanges article… I don’t even think mailing hundreds of webmasters for link exchanges is worth it anymore… I mean, it’s not even a sure thing. I would spend more time commenting on blogs to build up links

Thanks for the great posts as usual! I guess I am making mistakes with my article marketing.
In the truth about link exchanges it doesn’t get into how for some sites link exchanges just aren’t a good idea period and I think some webmasters force a “natural” exchange that isn’t there. These are the exchanges that google doesn’t like. The google algorithm is getting smarter everyday. Even the link I have in my name here isn’t really worth much anymore.
As much as I like article submission marketing strategies, and think it is a very viable method, I really wish there was some better options as far as submission software goes. There seems to be an endless number of software products that do the same thing, and they all look like they were made in 1995 and coded very inefficiently.
Health Faculty Jobs has a good point, Google is getting really smart. I think if you want to stay on the edge of search engine positioning the main thing is to learn what Google is doing, and adapt quickly. If you’re not “techie” then learn to be, otherwise you’ll be out in the pasture with the rest of the dinosaurs.

Yeah bulk-emails to prospective link-exchangers are fairly dated… forums and talking one on one with like-minded bloggers is the most efficient method, imo.

I also believe link exchange is not dead. Most of my other blogs got a high PR purely on link exchanges. Of course, the quality of the site linking to you really counts.

I heard that Google said somewhere that links exchanging is not encouraged? Maybe if too much link exchanging is done and they find that they loop back a few times it would hurt your ranking?

Google did say that. Too much of link exchanging would effect your ranking. I personally not recommend using this way to much.
I believe that to some people, link exchange might be useful to promote their products through internet marketing. However, others might think it is a nuisance to slow down internet traffic.
