These are the money making programs I have used and can honestly recommend. I’ve left out many reputable programs I have no experience with. These are the ones I can recommend from personal experience. You should use as many of them as you have space for to maximize profit.
Google AdSense
Probably the most used contextual advertising program, and also the one that matches the ads best. The downsides are that you need to reach a minimum of $100 before you get paid, and that Google takes a quite large share of the money (exact amount undisclosed).
Bidvertiser
Bidvertiser is quite like Google AdSense, only it is categorically targeted instead of contextually. The matching is not as exact, but there are reasons to use BidVertiser instead of AdSense. Firstly, they allow payments through PayPal and are alvailable in some countries where AdSense is not. Second, their minimum payment limit is only $10. And thirdly, their terms of service are more lenient.
TNX.net
TNX.net combines the best sides of many different advertising models. They allow you to sell links on pages individually, and allow advertisers to target pages in a relevant category. Revenue is gratest on a site with many high PageRank pages, but even a PageRank 0 website with a decent amount of inbound links or many pages of content can make money. The best use for a small site is probably to invest the credits to inbound links.
Text-Link-Ads
Text-Link-Ads is good for both link sales and because of their affiliate program. Once you have a publisher account, their affiliate program does not require an accepted website. Their affiliate program pays well, $25 per each new publisher referred, but I haven’t used them for link sales.
